Last night, after bowling badly and having a few cold beers (I was hoping they would improve my game, and they did) I decided that I just had to go to the Silver Palace Chinese Buffet on Holcomb. My sister and her boyfriend were going as well - bonus! I had great company over dinner. When it comes to buffets, I tend to eat things some people might shy from, especially in a buffett setting. I really have to quit that. Mussels? Clams in Black Bean Sauce? It is just before closing time, so, apparently - I asked for this. My sister informs me that she's just fine today. I am not. She had cold boiled shrimp, I had the aforementioned mollusks, and a bunch of fried stuff (I can't help it - if it's fried I'm on it like a duck on a june bug).
Word to the wise (or wiser than myself) avoid items on a buffet which might have a propensity to go south. Like shellfish. Unless you are prepping for a colonoscopy, or trying to lose five pounds, the hard way. Maybe now that cute little black dress will fit? There's a silver lining in this cloud of burpy nauseousness.
Actually, I know that Palace Lanes makes one hell of a burger. It's the old school, griddled thin patty and they make better tots than Sonic. As I sit here, greener than Kermit - I'm sticking to that burger option. Silver Palace, nevermore.
